If you can find true love on the clearnet, can you do the same on the dark web? The mere suggestion of that skeeves me out a little, but it may surprise you to learn that I did find at least one “dating” site on Tor (or perhaps hookup is more accurate?).
The site is called Date Dir, and like dating sites on the clearnet, it starts with a brief survey of a few details about yourself and whom you’re looking for. Date Dir’s original language is Russian, but it has an English version as well. (Plus, I’m sure you could just translate the whole page with Google Translate…if you trust Google Translate, that is!)
Perhaps you’d prefer a screenshot of the English version, then? Here:
As you can see, it asks for your name, age, sex, orientation, etc. “Relate to sex” means, “Interested in,” I assume. Aren’t translations hilarious sometimes?
Because it’s the dark web and the dark web is about anonymity, I suppose you don’t have to use your real name. I never have on any of the social networks – although some people have tracked me down via this blog. Damn! I didn’t actually sign up for the site, but if any of you readers do, feel free to let me know how it went.
Other than this site, the only one I’ve come across that vaguely resembles a dating site is PalFinder, which is at http://ww3k2yruojypssna.onion/search.php.
As it says, it’s meant “…to find friends with similar interests.” I do suggest that if you decide to use this site, follow their advice. I’m not responsible for anyone who ends up getting killed or kidnapped for using this.
The disturbing part about this site is that when I looked at its homepage, it had a newsfeed of some of the newest members, and let’s just say that I wouldn’t want to meet some of them in a dark alley. If you do, that’s up to you, of course!
It probably sounds weird to say this, but in spite of being a member of Psycho Social Network, sometimes I feel “normal” on the dark web compared to some of the people I’ve talked to. That’s all relative, I suppose!
Thus far, these are the only sites I’ve found that even remotely resemble dating sites on the clearnet. I’m sure that some people have met through other avenues, like the social networks or forums, but I don’t know of any success stories offhand.
As I always say, feel free to share your experiences in the comments section!
P.S. Please don’t get killed.
How do I translate at without google translate??
This is a good alternative to Google Translate: https://www.deepl.com/translator
Let’s see how it goes
I haven’t actually tried it, but wrote this at someone’s suggestion.
