Internet Mysteries: What is “Barbie Games”? (NSFW)

Going back to this blog’s roots (creepy websites and internet mysteries), in this TikTok video, user fernanda._.osorio describes a “dark web video” that she saw back in 2007 and wants identified. Those of you who are regulars here know that it wasn’t actually the “dark web,” but it was creepy nonetheless.

According to the video, when she was younger, Fernanda was Googling “barbie games” and kept looking through the search results until she got to page 17. As she says, when she reached this page, she clicked on a site called “Barbie Games,” and on the site, she saw what looked like a Barbie doll tied up with its mouth taped shut.

She claims that the “doll,” however, was actually human, which is what disturbed her so much. My first thought about this was that it was some kind of kink site combining bondage with dolls, but if it was something illegal, then that’s a whole different ball game.

Consulting the Wayback Machine, if you search for “barbie games,” quite a few results come up, including some from 2007, but none of them seem to resemble what Fernanda is talking about. Examples:

barbiegames.ws

thebarbiegames.com

mybarbiegames.com

While this might sound like one of the typical “urban legend dark web stories,” considering some of the disturbing things that were on the clearnet back in the ’00s and earlier, this one doesn’t seem out of the realm of possibility. So, readers – does any of this sound familiar? Can you answer Fernanda’s question?

  1. I haven’t heard of this before, but I will not be surprised if it’s true. Those days I think it was possible to exist sites likes that.
